A Place to Worship
I have lived in the center place for ten years. Before I gathered to
Independence, I attended a very small restoration branch in Murray, Kentucky.
Our branch consisted of ten to fifteen saints on a good Sunday; maybe a few
more on Christmas and Easter. We didn't have a church building of our on, so we
met at Murray State University's Exposition Center. Our pastor was head of
security so I guess you could say that we had connections!
It wasn't uncommon to walk into church on Sunday morning to find beer bottles,
trash and other undesirables lying around from the night before. It wasn't
uncommon for the place to reek from the smell of cattle; after all it was an expo
center. I mean, I like a country church but that was overkill!
To say the least, all of these "inconveniences" made me furious! I couldn't wait
for God to get me out of there and put me in a "real church" with pews, piano,
organ, and choir. I wanted the works!
For the first nine years of living in the center place I attended a branch with all
the glitz and glamour that I thought I wanted. I found after a while "image"
becoming so important that the Lord was being left out! All the glitz quickly faded.
At Living Hope, we meet in a gymnasium. I'll admit at first I thought "oh no, here
we go again!" But it's not important where you meet, but who your met by! I can
honestly say that the Lord's spirit is always there waiting for us. We are truly a
branch who seek the Lord and who love one another. Who knows, maybe the
Lord placed me in these series of events to show me what's important and
what's not. After all, The Lord was born in a manger just as I had worshiped him
in an expo center.
One thing is for certain though. God does have a sense of humor!
